IRGC Offers Help for Pakistan in Border Control

In a meeting with Pakistan’s visiting chief of Army Staff in Tehran on Tuesday, IRGC Ground Force Commander Brigadier General Mohammad Pakpour hailed close military cooperation as a shield against the trans-regional enemies and their mercenary terrorists.

Strong interaction between the two neighbors would strengthen the security of joint frontiers, the Iranian general added, saying the IRGC is ready to help the Pakistani brothers to "fill some border vacuums.”

General Pakpour also praised Pakistan’s recent efforts at border fortification, saying stronger presence of the Iranian and Pakistani military forces at the border would stem terrorist activities.

For his part, Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajw said Islamabad tries to increase the number of border guards and take the necessary measures to intensify control on border and counter the terrorist groups.

The top Pakistani commander arrived in Tehran on Sunday evening for an official visit. He has had meetings with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Hossein Baqeri, Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, and Defense Minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami.
