The statement to the commemoration ceremony of 200 martyred journalists in the IRIB University

TEHRAN (Defapress) - The commemoration ceremony of 200 martyred resistance journalists under the title of "Assassination of Truth", was held today (Monday) by the International Forum of Free Media with the presence of governmental and and military officials and a group of journalists at the IRIB University. 

Journalists active in the field of resistance attended this conference and while condemning the crimes of the Zionist regime, demanded the trial of this regime. In continue, the following statement were read: 

Transparency in information and freedom of expression are among the basic rights of every activist and media institution in the world. This is especially important when the subject of the narrative is the brutal and anti-human rights acts of great powers against oppressed and defenseless people, especially women, children and the elderly.

That is why all international documents consider and stress the rights to protect the lives of journalists and guarding them from harm. More than a year after the all-out Zionist invasion against the defenseless people of Gaza and the spread of the fire of this war to Lebanon and the targeting of its innocent citizens, unfortunately, in a historic audacity that includes crossing all human, moral and professional media red lines, we are witnessing the deliberate and planned murder of more than 200 official activists in the field of news and information, which is beyond all international rules and mechanisms based on human rights. Worse than that is the silence of international communities against this historical crime and the inability of these institutions in protecting the lives of journalists.

Therefore, we, journalists and media activists not affiliated with the dominant media movement, stand united based on human principles against this unprecedented oppression, declare solidarity, and will pursue the issue in international courts.
