TEHRAN (Defapress) - Iran's Foreign Minister, Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, and Syrian Foreign Minister, Bassam Al-Sabbagh attended a joint press conference this afternoon (Tuesday) after meeting each other.

No aggression against Iranian territory will go unanswered

The Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran said in the meeting: We have been and will be with the Syrian people and government.

Araghchi added that Iran supports the unity of Syria and condemns any foreign interference in destabilizing Syria.

The Foreign Minister further announced that a new meeting of the two countries' Joint Economic Commission will be held in the near future.

He noted: The scope of the crisis spreading to Syria shows the criminal nature of the Zionist regime and we strongly condemn it.

Araqchi added: We call on the United Nations to end its inaction and condemn Israel's actions.

The Foreign Minister stated: We appreciate Syria's humanitarian stance and thank it for hosting Lebanese refugees.

He stated that Syria hosts nearly 500,000 Lebanese refugees. Iran is helping and international institutions must help as well.

Araqchi added: We are happy that Syria has returned to the Arab League and we are happy that it has returned to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

The Foreign Minister continued: Relations with Turkey must improve. Support for terrorist groups must stop and we support Syrian-Turkish relations to expand peace and stability.

In response to a question about Iran's response to the Zionist regime's aggression, Araghchi stated that "Iran has proven its strategy very clearly to the Zionist regime and anyone else who looks at Iran with greed in practice," and emphasized: "We will not allow any aggression against our territory to go unanswered. We have proven this in practice with True Promise Operations 1 and 2. Iran considers itself fully entitled to respond to this aggression, and it is part of our defense policy to respond to any aggression. How and when it will be, our response will be carried out at the appropriate time and under the appropriate conditions and in the appropriate manner."
