Iran IDRO, Russia to manufacture helicopter

TEHRAN(Defapress)-In the wake of the recent mishaps in the country like earthquake in western city of Kermanshah and limited access to helicopters and also to supple the required helicopters in maritime field, oil platforms, etc, IDRO is to start the mentioned project, Deputy Head of IDRO Behzad Etemadi told the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) on Tuesday.

IDRO held talks with various companies like Leonardo and Airbus, but Finally 'we started the project with Russian Helicopter Company, he noted.

After the implementation of this contract, the assembly of helicopters for the Red Crescent, Emergency, Firefighting, oil platforms, etc. (except for military purposes) will be on the agenda and Iranian experts will have cooperation in after-sale services, he added.

Russian Helicopters is a helicopter design and manufacturing company headquartered in Moscow, Russia. The company designs and manufactures civilian and military helicopters. The company's principal shareholder is Oboronprom.
