In a statement issued today, PPS highlighted that the video captures just a fraction of the systematic torture endured by Palestinian captives in various Israeli prisons and detention centers.

The organization condemned the Israeli occupation's efforts to weaken the resolve of Palestinian detainees, instill fear among their families, and erode the collective consciousness of the Palestinian populace through the dissemination of degrading and abusive videos disguised as "leaks."

PPS accused the present Israeli administration, notably the extremist minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, of purposely leaking these images to flaunt the mistreatment of detainees.

Describing this tactic as part of a broader competition among government officials to demonstrate cruelty towards Palestinians, the organization stated that Ben-Gvir exploits the suffering of Palestinian prisoners to gain domestic support and gratify his thirst for retribution post-conflict in Gaza.

Furthermore, the statement emphasized that the circulation of such imagery seeks to influence public perception of Palestinian captives, who occupy a significant role in the Palestinian liberation movement.

PPS confirmed that the practices inflicted on detainees by the occupation form part of a protracted, methodical strategy dating back to the inception of the Israeli occupation. Nonetheless, it underscored that since October 7, 2023, these atrocities and policies have escalated to unprecedented levels of brutality due to the implementation of new abusive techniques.

As of early September 2024, the count of Palestinian detainees held in Israeli detention facilities surpasses 9,900, excluding individuals from Gaza confined in Israeli military compounds.
