Drafting of a new resolution in the Security Council to the ceasefire in Gaza

TEHRAN (Defapress) - Negotiations at the expert level of the Security Council members regarding the draft of a new resolution regarding the ceasefire in Gaza are taking place behind closed doors.

According to this report, in this draft, pointing out that the situation in Gaza and the escalation of tensions in the region is a threat to peace and security, the necessity of establishing a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip is emphasized.

The draft of this resolution also emphasizes the immediate and unconditional release of all Zionist prisoners and calls for immediate access to basic services and humanitarian aid for the residents of the Gaza Strip.

In the draft of the resolution mentioned above, all parties are also requested to fully and unconditionally implement resolution 2735.

Earlier on June 10, 2024, the United Nations Security Council approved a resolution proposed by the United States to establish a ceasefire in Gaza and release prisoners. This resolution was approved with 14 positive votes and one abstention (Russia) without any dissenting votes.
