Protests in New York lead to Arrests of pro-Palestinian activists

TEHRAN (Defapress) - Authorities in New York have apprehended multiple individuals, as reported by local news outlets, during a significant pro-Palestinian demonstration that took place in Manhattan, where participants called for a ceasefire in Gaza.

According to the New York Post, six individuals were taken into custody, and confrontations occurred between protesters and law enforcement outside the New York Public Library and in Times Square. Footage shared online depicted police efforts to disperse crowds at Times Square.

Earlier that day, a large group of pro-Palestinian activists conducted a walkout at Columbia University to express their opposition to the ongoing conflict in Gaza. During this event, they also recited the names of over 50,000 Palestinians who have been martyred due to Israeli military actions since October 7, 2023.
